Announcing HRO FAIL, HROF 1
I’ve decided that I will start curating ‘when HRO commenting goes wrong’. Here is my very first HROF. You’ll look back on this day with pride, knowing that you were a part of something. Without further ado, the comment:
HereComesTheNativeAmericanApparel
“‘Cause I’m CARLES, yes I’m the real CARLES
All you other CARLES are just imitating
So won’t the real CARLES please stand up,
please stand up, please stand up?”
See the original thread
Fails on multiple levels. Most obviously an out of date cultural reference. Just as obvious is the lack of preserving the original rhyme structure of said reference [re: “u evr heard of a thesaurus?”] Next, the overall irrelevance of the comment as seen by a lack of replies and no subsequent comments that identify with the commenter’s sentiment. Finally, there is no irony in this comment. Not even a feeble attempt is made [via use of single quotations]. The easiest way to remedy this, as I see it, would be to accuse other commenters of imitating Carles [via bro-ha [via original thread]] while at the same time imitating Carles.
That’s it for this edition. Stay tuned for the next time “When HRO Commenting Goes Wrong” [via Dave Chapelle].
