Cat climbs tree hoping to catch bird

The neatest thing I saw today was this cat that was stalking a bird.  At first it was just perched on a ledge, twitching it’s tail annoyedly with it’s eyes glancing up.  I realized that it must be eyeing some creature.  Not too interested at this point I resumed my workout.  After finishing the next set I gazed out the window once more to see the cat was now making it’s way up the tree with it’s feet planted at a branching point.  Also I spotted the aimless flapping wings of a bird, which was causing the ends of the branches to shake— undoubtedly the cat’s prey.  I continued to watch as my breathing returned to normal.  However, it wasn’t until I finished two more sets that any developments were made in the cat-bird saga.  The cat was now further up the tree, though with less firm of footing.  I felt that a climax was imminent, and took a longer rest between sets than usual.  Unfortunately it was during that next set that the cat began to slip.  When I resumed watch the swaying of the ends of the branch was all that was noticeable.  On closer inspection I saw the cat was further along the branch but writhing and wriggling to stay up.  It had gone from hanging from the branch to back atop.  Well actually the details are a bit fuzzy.  Perhaps the cat just shimmied down until returning to a stable spot whence it came.  And I wondered if it would change it’s approach and try again, or just learn it’s lesson and climb down.
